8 Pictures of the New Oklahoma City Temple You Haven’t Seen
The Oklahoma City Temple was announced on March 14, 1999. The land that was subsequently built on was originally intended to be used for a church meetinghouse. But instead the temple was built on that land, along with an additional portion of land donated by the sellers. The additional section of land until then was used as a baseball field by local church members. After the announcement was made, it only took a little over a year to complete the temple!
Then on April 10, 2017, the Church announced that the temple would close in October 2017, for extensive renovations that would completely change both the interior and exterior. It now looks like a completely different temple, and we love the new design! Once the renovations were complete, the temple was rededicated on May 19, 2019, by Henry B. Eyring.
The Oklahoma City Temple serves Church members in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri.
