Burley Temple, Smithfield Temple and Yorba Linda Temple Groundbreaking Dates Announced

Yesterday the groundbreaking dates were announced for three highly-anticipated temples – the Smithfield Temple, the Burley Temple, and the Yorba Linda Temple.

Burley Idaho Temple

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Burley Idaho Temple will be held on Saturday, June 4. Elder Brent H. Nielson of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside. Attendance at the ceremony will be by invitation only.

An exterior rendering of the Burley Temple (seen above) was released six months ago in September 2021. Interior renderings will hopefully be released in the near future. The temple will be built on a 10.1-acre site located at 40 South and 150 East. Initial plans call for a two-story temple of around 38,600 square feet.

Smithfield Utah Temple

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Smithfield Temple will be held on Saturday, June 18. Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the event. He will be accompanied by fellow Apostle, Elder Gary E. Stevenson. As with the Burley Temple, attendance at the ceremony will be by invitation only.

A beautiful exterior rendering of the temple (seen above) was released just last month. We hope to see interior renderings released in the near future. As was announced in June 2021, the temple will be built at the intersection of 800 West and 100 North. It will be a three-story structure of approximately 81,000 square feet.

Yorba Linda California Temple

The groundbreaking for the Yorba Linda Temple will be held on Saturday, June 18. Elder Mark A. Bragg of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside. As with the other two groundbreaking ceremonies on this page, attendance will be by invitation only.

An exterior rendering of the Yorba Linda Temple (seen above) was released last year. Interior renderings will hopefully be released in the near future. As was previously announced, the temple will be built on a 5.4-acre site located at the intersection of Bastanchury Road and Osmond Street. The initial plans for the temple call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet.

More information about open houses and completion dates for the three temples will be made public at a much later time. We’re thrilled that the construction of these temples will begin so soon!
