Cincinnati Temple and Des Moines Temple Locations Announced

Cincinnati Temple and Des Moines Temple Locations Announced

Yesterday the locations of two future temples were revealed – the Cincinnati Ohio Temple and the Des Moines Iowa Temple. Location details and more information are below. What a blessing these temples will be to the Latter-day Saints in their respective areas!

Cincinnati Ohio Temple

The Cincinnati Temple, which was announced only a few weeks ago, will be located on a very large 35-acre site located at the intersection of Mason-Montgomery Road & Cedar Village Drive in Mason. Initial plans for the small temple call for a single-story structure of approximately 29,630 square feet. This will be the first temple in Cincinnati, but one of three temples in the state of Ohio. The first and only operating temple is the Columbus Temple. The second temple, the Cleveland Temple, will have its groundbreaking in June. And, of course, Ohio is also home to the Kirtland Temple, which is now owned by the Church and is open for public tours.

Des Moines Iowa Temple

The Des Moines Temple, which was announced at the same time as the Cincinnati Temple earlier this month, will be built on a 19.576-acre site located at 9050 NW 62nd Avenue in Johnston. The initial plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 29,630 square feet. This will be the first temple to be built in the state of Iowa, so it’s an exciting time for Latter-day Saints there!

Of course these are just early announcements, so more detailed design plans for both of these temples are still being developed. Interior renderings, as well as more information, will be made public at a later time. Groundbreaking dates have not been set yet either. In the coming months, project leaders will begin working with city officials to make plans more official.
