Cincinnati Temple Groundbreaking Date Announced

It was announced recently that the groundbreaking for the new Cincinnati Ohio Temple will take place in about seven weeks, on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Elder Alan T. Phillips of the United States Northeast Area Presidency will preside at the event.

The new temple will be the third operating temple in the state of Ohio, following the Columbus Temple and the recently-dedicated Cleveland Temple. And of course, Ohio is also home to the historic Kirtland Temple, the Church’s first temple, which was an important precursor to all modern temples.

The Cincinnati Temple was announced two and a half years ago by President Nelson during the April 2024 General Conference. The location was announced just a few week later. The new temple will be built on a very large 35-acre site in Mason. It will be a beautiful single-story structure of approximately 30,000 square feet square feet with a front spire, as you can see in the artist rendering below, which was released in 2024.

Of course we will post more information as it becomes available regarding the open house and completion timeline. We’re excited for members in the greater Cincinnati area to be able to watch the progress of their new temple over the few years until it’s finished! Until the new temple is complete, Latter-day Saints in the area can continue to travel to the Columbus Temple, Louisville Temple, or Indianapolis Temple to worship and serve. This new temple will be a wonderful blessing for those in the area.
