Deseret Peak Temple Site Plan Released
Following a public hearing last week, the Tooele City Planning Commission unanimously voted to recommend the approval of a site plan for the Deseret Peak Utah Temple site. Now it needs to be approved by the City Council, based on the recommendation of the Planning Commission. If approved, the 17-acre site will be allowed to become the home of the future 70,000-square-foot temple. The site plan was released to the public, which you can click below for a larger view. As you’ll see, the site will also include a 20,000-square-foot meetinghouse, as well as plentiful landscaping and parking. As temple photographers, we always love to see a plan that incorporates plenty of beautiful landscaping. We can’t wait for this temple to be built!
If you can recall, the location of what was previously called the Tooele Valley Utah Temple was moved to the intersection of 2400 North 400 West in Tooele. An official reason for the change of location has not been given.
Project leaders will continue working with city officials to coordinate further planning for the future temple, including a groundbreaking date, which we will announce here as soon as more information becomes available.
