First Pictures Inside the New Red Cliffs Temple & Open House Begins

It has been nearly five and a half years since the Red Cliffs Utah Temple was announced in October 2018 by President Nelson, and now the time has finally come to reveal to the public the interior of the new temple and begin the open house. Latter-day Saints in Washington County will be welcoming the general public to the temple starting this weekend. The public open house will last for a full month, beginning on February 1st and going through March 2nd. Specially-invited guests are beginning their tours of the new temple today. Prior to the open house starting on Thursday, the Church has released a number of beautiful photos of the finished interior of the new temple.

The Red Cliffs Temple stands majestic and serene against the stunning desert landscape of Southern Utah. The temple’s interior and exterior design elements were pulled from the environment that surrounds the St. George area. The motifs designed in the precast concrete exterior were inspired by Southern Utah’s grand cottonwood trees and its numerous mountains and canyons. The 96,000-square-foot house of the Lord sits on more than 15 acres of land, and is the second temple in St. George, following the pioneer-era St. George Temple, which was recently rededicated following extensive renovations.

The main motif inside the new temple is the dwarf bearclaw poppy. The other motifs in the temple include succulents, Indian paintbrush, cottonwood leaves and pomegranates. The succulent motif is also used throughout all window designs in the temple.

Once the public open house is complete and the temple has been cleaned again and prepared, it will be dedicated on Sunday, March 24, 2024, by President Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency. It will be the 189th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In summary, the free public open house for the Red Cliffs Temple will run from Thursday, February 1 through Saturday, March 2, 2024, except for Sundays. Free reservations for tours can be made at www.churchofjesuschrist.org/temples/open-houses.
