Forth Worth Temple Groundbreaking Takes Place

A wonderful groundbreaking ceremony for the Fort Worth Texas Temple was held last weekend, on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Elder Jose L. Alonso, a General Authority Seventy and First Counselor in the North America Southwest Area Presidency, presided at the ceremony and offered the dedicatory prayer.

During the dedicatory prayer, Elder Alonso offered words in reverence, and expressed gratitude for Jesus Christ. “Our hearts are full of appreciation for the treasured gift of Thy Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. His divine mission provides hope and purpose. Through His atonement, we find solace during trials, and through His grace, we are fortified with strength and encouragement to serve our neighbors,” he said.

The Fort Worth Temple was one of 13 new temples announced two years ago by President Nelson during the October 2021 General Conference. The temple will be among the mid-sized temples of the Church, at around 30,000 square feet, and will be located north of SW Hulen Street and Greenridge Drive in Burleson. Once all temples in Texas that have been announced or are under construction are finished, the Fort Worth Temple will be one of eight temples in Texas. The growth of the Church in Texas has been increasing rapidly in recent decades, with more than 378,000 members in nearly 750 congregations.

We’re excited to watch the progress that will now be made on the construction of this beautiful temple! It will be a blessed time for the Latter-day Saints in the area of the new temple!

Below are a few pictures from the event, along with the original artist rendering of the future temple.
