Jacksonville Temple Location Announced

Jacksonville Temple Location Announced

It was announced yesterday that the Jacksonville Florida Temple will be built on a 6.6-acre site located at 3323 Loretto Road in Jacksonville. The only other details that were given is that the future temple will be around a single-story structure at around 29,000 square feet. So not a large temple, but the work that is done inside is as important as ever.

As always, this is an early announcement, so the detailed design plans for the temple are still being developed. An exterior rendering has not yet been released, but hopefully it will be in the near future. A groundbreaking date has also not been set. That information will come at a late time. But the great news is that project leaders can now begin working with city officials to coordinate planning for the future temple.

The Jacksonville Temple was one of 18 temples that were announced a year and a half ago during the October 2022 General Conference. It is one of five temples in Florida that are in operation, under construction, or announced. The Tallahassee Florida Temple will very likely be dedicated some time this year. The other most recently announced temple in Florida is the Tampa Temple, which was announced in October 2022. Its location was announced in 2022 and a rendering was released in 2023, but construction has not yet begun.
