After two and a half years of construction, the dedication of the McAllen Texas Temple will take place on October 8, 2023! It will have been four years nearly to the day since it was originally announced on October 5, 2019 by President Nelson. The groundbreaking was held just over a year later, in November 2020. The Latter-day Saints in the southern Texas area are surely very excited for this announcement!

The temple will be dedicated in two sessions by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who will preside at the event and offer the dedication. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all units in the McAllen Texas Temple district. The McAllen Temple is one of eight temples in Texas that is either in operation, under construction, or announced to be built.

As with all new temples, prior to the dedication, the McAllen Temple open house will begin on Friday, August 25, 2023, and continue through Saturday, September 9, excluding Sundays. If you’d like to tour the temple before it’s rededicated, free reservations will be made available to the public through www.churchofjesuschrist.org as the open house dates get closer – usually a few weeks before it begins.
