It has been six years since the Layton Utah Temple was announced in April 2018 by President Nelson. And now, after such a long wait, the time has finally come to reveal to the public the stunning interior of the new temple and begin the open house. Latter-day Saints in Davis County will be welcoming all visitors to the temple starting this Friday, April 19th. The public open house will last for six weeks, until June 1st, excluding Sundays. Specially-invited guests begin their tours of the new temple tomorrow. As of today, over 250,000 reservations have already been made to tour the temple! Prior to the public open house on Friday, the Church has released a number of beautiful photos of the finished interior of the temple.

The 94,000-square-foot temple, one of the largest in the world, is visible for miles in every direction. It is the second temple in Davis County, following the Bountiful Temple, and stands on a 11.8-acre site located at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane. A third temple, the Syracuse Temple, is also being built in Davis County.

Inspired by traditional Latter-day Saint and other religious architecture, the new temple includes design motifs that were influenced by the agricultural heritage of the Layton City area. The structure’s exterior consists of precast concrete panels over a structural steel frame and cast-in-place concrete shear walls. Interior and exterior motifs feature seedlings, leafy branches and cherry blossoms. A Tiffany art glass piece that dates to 1915 can be found on the second floor. The piece, entitled “The Resurrection,” was purchased from a United Presbyterian Church in Armenia, New York, which was torn down in 2015.

As was announced last December, once the open house is complete and the temple has been cleaned again and prepared, it will be dedicated on Sunday, June 16, 2024, by Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. It will be one of 30 temples in Utah that are in operation, under construction, or announced.

So as a reminder, the public open house for the Layton Temple will run from Friday, April 19 through Saturday, June 1, 2024, except for Sundays. Free reservations for tours can be made at
