St. George Temple Open House & Rededication Dates
Many Latter-day Saints in the southern Utah area were surely very excited by the news today about when the historic St. George Temple will be rededicated, as well as when it will hold its public open house. The temple has been undergoing renovations for three and a half years now.
The rededication of the temple will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in two sessions. Prior to the rededication, a public open house will be held for just under two full months. It will go from September 15 through November 11, except for Sundays and September 30th, which is General Conference.
The St. George Temple was the first temple completed in Utah, dedicated in April 1877. It was rededicated in November 1975 after it was remodeled. This is the second remodel that the temple has undergone, which was announced by President Nelson in January 2019. These renovations included extensive structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and finish work. Significant changes were also made to the entire temple block, which was improved with new walkways, landscaping, water features and additional shade trees. If you’d like to read more information about the changes, you can read our post here.
During the open house towards the end of this year, everyone will have the opportunity to go inside and experience the beauty and spirit found in the temple. Everyone can have an individual experience that will help them feel the love of God. People are invited to make plans now to join us for this unique experience to tour first-hand a place that so many hold dear.
We look forward to visiting the renovated temple and see the beauty both inside and out! We’ll make new pictures of the temple available as soon as we have them.
