Taylorsville Temple & Red Cliffs Temple Groundbreaking Dates Announced
Yesterday the groundbreaking dates were announced for two highly-anticipated temples – the Taylorsville Utah Temple and the Red Cliffs Temple (formerly the Washington County Temple).
Taylorsville Utah Temple
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Taylorsville Temple will be held in October 2020. A specific date of the month has not yet been announced. Elder Gerrit W. Gong, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, will preside at the event. Attendance at the ceremony will be by invitation only, due to local government social distancing guidelines.
A beautiful exterior rendering of the Taylorsville Temple (seen above) was also released. We here at LDS Temple Pictures love the design. Much of its architecture reminds us of the Provo City Center Temple, as well as the Vernal Temple and the Assembly Hall on Temple Square. Interestingly, as with other recent temple renderings, there is no Angel Moroni atop the spire.
Red Cliffs Utah Temple
The groundbreaking for the Red Cliffs Temple will be held in November 2020, with the specific date of the month also unknown. As with the Taylorsville Temple, attendance at the ceremony will be by invitation only. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and native of St. George, Utah, will preside at the temple groundbreaking.
Interior renderings for both of these temples, as well as more information, will be made public at a later time. We’re thrilled that the construction of both of these temples will begin so soon!
