The Taylorsville Temple Is Dedicated

After just over five years since it was announced in April 2019, and after three and a half years of construction, the Taylorsville Utah Temple was dedicated yesterday, June 2, 2024. The dedication was performed by Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The new temple is the 21st temple in Utah, and will be one of 30 temples in operation, under construction, or announced in the state. It’s also the 192nd temple in the world. During the wonderful event, Elder Gong invited Church members to “come to the Lord in the house of the Lord.”

All Latter-day Saints — youth, new and returning members, long-time members — are welcome to come to the temple. “Wherever we are on life’s path, we can come step-by-step with a desire to come to the Lord in the house of the Lord,” Elder Gong said.

“The Taylorsville Utah Temple is close to many faithful members. Many faithful members will be blessed by the opportunity to serve as temple patrons and as temple ordinance workers,” he continued. “Serving as a temple ordinance worker is a special service and blessing. It blesses, refines, sanctifies. It allows others to give and others to receive something they choose and need but cannot do for themselves.”

The new temple is one of five temples in the greater Salt Lake valley, with a later addition of the West Jordan Temple that was recently announced.

This year will be another busy year for temples throughout the world, and especially here in Utah. The Layton Temple is the next temple to be dedicated – it will be dedicated in just two weeks, on Sunday, June 16th.

We have a number of beautiful Taylorsville Temple pictures available now. And if you didn’t have a chance to attend the public open house to see inside the temple, be sure to take a look at the pictures of the beautiful interior!
