Brothers and sisters, temple building continues, unabated.

— President Thomas S. Monson

During the Saturday morning session of April 2013 Annual General Conference, President Thomas S. Monson announced that a new temple would be constructed in the city of Cedar City, Utah. It will be the 17th temple in Utah and will serve members from 17 stakes located in southern Utah and eastern Nevada.

The temple is located on a 21-acre are known as Leigh Hill, which rises high on the west side of the city, commanding a beautiful view of the mountains to the east.

After nearly two years of work, the temple was dedicated on December 10, 2017 by Henry B. Eyring.
