The Atlanta Temple was the first temple built in the Southeastern United States, the first in Georgia, and the 21st in the world. It was originally dedicated on June 1, 1983 by Gordon B. Hinckley. In 2009 it was closed for remodeling and renovation and then re-dedicated on May 1, 2011 by Thomas S. Monson.
