About the Meridian Idaho Temple

Announced in April 2011 and dedicated on November 19, 2017 by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, the Meridian Idaho Temple is the 158th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the fifth in the state of Idaho. More than 208,000 people visited during the three-week open house in October and November 2017.

The 67,331-square-foot temple sits on nearly 16 acres along the Treasure Valley, surrounded by scenic walkways, ponds, and hundreds of trees. Its Prairie School architecture — echoing the historic Cardston Alberta Temple and Laie Hawaii Temple — makes it a striking and beautiful departure from the traditional spires and towers seen on most temples. The temple's titanium cupola is one of its most talked-about features: depending on the angle and quality of light, it shifts through shades of blue-gray, gold, and bronze — making it a favorite subject for photographers at different times of day.
