About the Moses Lake Washington Temple

Announced by President Russell M. Nelson on April 7, 2019, and dedicated on September 17, 2023 by Elder Quentin L. Cook, the Moses Lake Washington Temple is the 182nd operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the 4th built in Washington. The 28,933-square-foot temple is clad in Branco Cristal granite quarried in Portugal. It sits on a 17.2-acre site at 401 Yonezawa Boulevard, just a mile and a half from the junction of Interstate 90 and Highway 17, making it easily accessible to members from across the surrounding region.

The temple's design draws deeply from the agricultural heritage and Native American history of the Moses Lake area. The art glass features an apple blossom motif — a nod to the orchards that once blanketed the Columbia Basin — with a prairie-style border pattern honoring the Sinkiuse people led by Chief Moses, the peace-loving leader for whom the lake and city were named. Decorative interior paint features potato blossoms and alfalfa, celebrating the crops that define the region after the Columbia Basin Project brought irrigation water to the desert in the 1950s. Cherry wood millwork, apple blossom carpets, and glass carry the agricultural theme throughout the interior. The public open house ran August 4–19, 2023, and Elder Cook presided at the dedication on September 17 — one of three temples dedicated that same day, the most in Church history on a single date.
