About the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple
Announced in October 1992 and dedicated on October 13, 1996 by President Gordon B. Hinckley, the Mount Timpanogos Temple is the 49th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the second built in Utah County. Standing on nearly 17 acres of land at the base of its namesake mountain, the 104,000-square-foot temple features an exterior of sierra white granite with art glass windows and bronze doors. When the Angel Moroni was placed atop the 190-foot spire in July 1995, an estimated 20,000 people lined the surrounding streets to witness the moment. Nearly 680,000 people toured the temple during its open house — a testament to the deep connection Utah Valley members felt toward this house of the Lord.
The temple overlooks Utah Lake and the surrounding valley from Orem to Lehi, and at night its lights radiate across the entire valley floor. The Mount Timpanogos Temple remains one of the busiest temples in the world, a reflection of the dense and active Latter-day Saint population throughout Utah County.
