About the Payson Utah Temple
Announced January 25, 2010 by President Thomas S. Monson and dedicated June 7, 2015 by President Henry B. Eyring, the Payson Temple is the 146th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the 15th built in Utah, and the third in Utah County. The 96,630-square-foot temple sits on 10.63 acres just off the 800 South exit of I-15, featuring cream-colored precast concrete panels, a single central spire, and seven sealing rooms — one of the highest sealing room counts of any temple in the Church. At the groundbreaking, Elder Dallin H. Oaks noted that the temple "will be a dominant and visible influence on the millions who pass by here by day and by night."
The Angel Moroni statue was raised atop the spire on October 10, 2013, drawing hundreds of community members to the construction site to witness the moment. During the public open house in April and May 2015, an extraordinary 475,542 people toured the temple over four weeks — one of the highest open house attendance figures in Church history. The temple serves members throughout southern Utah County and Juab County, providing a long-awaited closer alternative to the heavily-attended Provo Temple and Mount Timpanogos Temple.
