About the Syracuse Utah Temple

Announced by President Russell M. Nelson on April 5, 2020 at General Conference and dedicated on June 8, 2025 by President Nelson — who was accompanied by Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve — the Syracuse Temple is the 206th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the 24th built in Utah, and the 3rd in Davis County, joining the Bountiful Temple and Layton Temple. The 90,526-square-foot temple was built on a 12-acre site at the intersection of 2500 West and 1098 South in Syracuse, surrounded by the agricultural fields and wetlands that define the western edge of Davis County. At the groundbreaking on June 12, 2021, Elder Kevin R. Duncan prayed that the temple would honor "the great legacy of faith and sacrifice that has been passed down from the pioneers who settled in this area." The public open house ran May 10–31, 2025.

Syracuse is known as the "Gateway to Antelope Island," and the temple's design celebrates that identity throughout. The art glass was fabricated in Verona, Italy and features the snowball sand-verbena, desert paintbrush, common cattail, and reeds native to the Great Salt Lake wetlands. The transitioning blues, greens, and yellows of the glass reflect the colors of the lake's surface at different times of day. The interior features Crema Ella Verde and Emperador Light stone, with White Cliffs stone in the sealing and celestial rooms, and faceted crystal art glass accents throughout. The temple contains two full baptistries — a first-of-its-kind feature that allows it to serve significantly higher ordinance volumes than most similarly-sized temples.
