Standing in Florida’s capital city, the Tallahassee Temple was the third temple dedicated in the state, following the Orlando Temple and the Fort Lauderdale Temple. Announced by President Russell M. Nelson on April 5, 2020, it was dedicated by Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on December 8, 2024 — his first dedication as an apostle — ending what had been a 260-mile drive to Orlando for local members. Its precast concrete exterior, featuring four-sided columns and detailed cornices, earned the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute’s Sidney Freedman Craftsmanship Award. About the Tallahassee Florida Temple

President Russell M. Nelson announced the Tallahassee Temple on April 5, 2020, one of eight new temples he named that April general conference. The temple's location in the northeast section of the city was revealed on January 13, 2021, and Elder James B. Martino, then North America Southeast Area President, presided over the groundbreaking on June 5, 2021, telling those gathered that the temple "will bless the entire land around it and the entire community. It will be a beacon of holiness and a place of peace for all to both see and feel." The finished 29,225-square-foot temple sits on a 4.97-acre site, its precast concrete exterior featuring four-sided columns and large cornices crafted with such precision that it earned the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute's Sidney Freedman Craftsmanship Award for the GATE Precast Company of Monroeville, Alabama.

The temple grounds were planted with native and historically significant Florida species, including live oaks, two varieties of magnolia — whose leaf shape is echoed in the temple's architectural details — crape myrtles, bald cypress, and pines, with the azalea serving as the property's signature shrub. A public open house held November 4 through 23, 2024, drew 40,976 visitors, far surpassing the 25,000 originally anticipated. Elder Patrick Kearon dedicated the Tallahassee Temple in a single session on December 8, 2024 — the 202nd operating temple of the Church and the last of sixteen dedicated that year. Fittingly, two centuries after Tallahassee was chosen as Florida's capital because it sat midway between two distant government centers, the temple's dedication once again made the city a kind of midway point — this time a spiritual one. The temple now serves eight stakes across northern Florida, southern Georgia, and Alabama.
