Oregon’s third temple and the 218th in the Church, it was dedicated on June 7, 2026 by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. Our collection of Willamette Valley Temple pictures, art prints, and paintings captures this beautiful new temple in a range of styles and sizes.

About the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple

Announced by President Russell M. Nelson on April 4, 2021, at the 191st Annual General Conference, and dedicated on June 7, 2026 by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, the Willamette Valley Temple is the 218th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the third built in Oregon. It joined the Portland Temple and the Medford Temple. The 30,635-square-foot temple is located at 300 International Way in Springfield. Elder Valeri V. Cordón presided at the groundbreaking on October 29, 2022, praying that "the temple will be a beacon of hope and peace that inspires this community to come unto Christ even in its construction phase." The temple serves 9 stakes throughout west-central Oregon — members who previously traveled to Portland or Medford for their temple worship, often several hours each way through Oregon's mountains and valleys.

The Willamette Valley has deep Latter-day Saint roots stretching back to 1909, when the first four Church families in the Eugene area organized a Sunday school and began meeting in homes and rented rooms. By 1929 the Eugene Branch was formally organized; by 1951 the Willamette Stake had been created. One notable University of Oregon alumnus, Jerold Ottley, went on to lead the renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 25 years, from 1974 to 1999. At the temple dedication, President Uchtdorf — who was reminded of his home in Germany by Oregon's green landscapes — said: "When you see the wonderful Willamette River flowing quietly but strongly, just in the neighborhood of this temple, it is like the flow of spiritual power, which comes from this temple and goes into the community."

Willamette Valley Temple Photos, Art, & Prints

The Willamette Valley Temple's design is one of the most regionally expressive of any recent Church temple. The art glass references the green vegetation and blue water of the nearby McKenzie and Willamette Rivers in gold, purple, pink, green, and blue-yellow gradients. Mountain laurel and repeating prism patterns appear throughout the exterior stone, interior millwork, and decorative painting. Two original paintings by Utah artist Michael Coleman grace the interior: "Proxy Falls," depicting the iconic waterfall in the Three Sisters Wilderness, and "Oregon White Oak," featuring the state tree against a dramatic sky with a rainbow. The surrounding landscape of the southern Willamette Valley — with the McKenzie River nearby, the Coast Range to the west, and the Three Sisters peaks visible to the east — offers photographers a strikingly beautiful Pacific Northwest setting.

Willamette Valley Temple prints make a meaningful and inspirational gift for members throughout west-central Oregon — and for anyone with a connection to this beautiful new temple in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Perfect for weddings, mission homecomings, new homes, and other milestone occasions.
